In order to earn points, a rider and horse must be a NIHJA member. Membership should be completed before a rider/horse is shown.
Trainers of each rider/horse must be members in order for their rider/horse to earn points.
Championship points are not awarded in Equitation divisions except for Short Stirrup, Long Stirrup, and Rusty Stirrup.
Championships: Championships shall be awarded only when there are a minimum of three (3) classes in Hunter Divisions, and two (2) classes in Equitation and Jumper Divisions. Championship and Reserve places will go to the two (2) top horses/riders in a division and must be in the top four (4) over fences to qualify, with the exception of the Short Stirrup and Long Stirrup Hunter & Equitation Divisions. In order to be eligible for Champion and Reserve Champion, the rider or horse MUST be entered in the entire division; it is not necessary to ride in each class as long as there is the minimum of three (3) riders completing each class. Post entries are not allowed; once a class has been held no horse/rider may go back and pay the entry fee in order to qualify for Championship points.
Points Awarded – points will be awarded as follows:
First Place 10 points
Second Place 6 points
Third Place 4 points
Fourth Place 2 points
Fifth Place 1 point
Sixth Place 1/2 point
Division Champion 20 additional points
Reserve Champion 12 additional points
